Asbestos Removal

Non-licensed Asbestos RemovalWorking with asbestos containing materials (ACMs) is one of this country’s most regulated industries and requires access to suitably trained, experienced and resourced operatives to carry out the work; however not all asbestos removal projects require a HSE licence.

G & L Consultancy have a small team of highly trained and experienced operatives who carry out non-licensed work with asbestos. This work is just not limited to removing asbestos containing materials but can also include encapsulation and / or repair of damaged materials or environmental cleans following accidental disturbance of a material.

Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, there are three categories of working with asbestos:

Simple or short duration works involving only low-risk ACMs that will not be damaged by the removal process.

  • Non-licensed Notifiable:

If the work is of longer duration, complex or where low risk ACMs will be at risk from significant breakage during removal, or ACMs that are more hazardous are involved, notification may be required.

Where the work is of more than a very short duration and involves medium or high risk ACMs then a licensed contractor would normally be required.

G & L Consultancy is insured to carry out both notifiable and non-notifiable non-licenced asbestos removal and hold the required waste carriers licence to enable us to transport and dispose of all waste created during removal projects.

Examples of non-licensed ACMs that G & L Consultancy can carry out work on include:

    • Asbestos Cement Sheeting or Panels
    • Asbestos Textured Coating (Artex)
    • Asbestos Floor Tiles or Coverings
    • Asbestos Bitumen
    • Asbestos Gaskets or Textiles
    • Asbestos Resins and Plastics

This project is an example of many carried out by G & L Consultancy.
The client wanted to re-develop the area in which the garage was located and requested that the Asbestos Cement Roof Sheets and Lining Panels were removed.
The internal lining panels were badly damaged with a large amount of asbestos containing debris being interspersed amongst the stored items.
In order to remove the lining panels it was necessary to carefully de-construct the entire structure.
