Our Somerset and Northern Ireland Offices have dedicated training facilities to cover all aspects of both practical and theoretical training, for up to 15 candidates on a course.

Alternatively, courses may be run at a location of your choice, providing any practical training requirements can be catered for.

Asbestos Awareness & Asbestos Essentials

G&L offers the following training courses in order for clients to achieve compliance with their duty to manage asbestos:

  • Asbestos Awareness
    Regulation 10 of ‘The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012’ places a duty on employers to ensure that all employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos receive adequate information, instruction and training.This course covers the following topics: Introduction to Asbestos, Health Effects of Asbestos, Asbestos Legislation, Asbestos Containing Materials, Emergency Procedures and Avoiding the Risks of Asbestos.
  • Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non-domestic Premises
    This course is recommended for all those wishing to comply with Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 – The Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non-domestic Premises.
  • An Introduction to Asbestos Remediation
    This course is recommended for Duty Holders and Asbestos Co-ordinators under Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 – The Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non-domestic Premises.
  • Work with Non-licensed Asbestos
    Regulation 10 of ‘The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012’ places a duty on employers to ensure that all employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos receive adequate information, instruction and training and there is an increased duty on those employees who will knowingly disturb asbestos containing materials through the course of their work.This course covers the following topics: Introduction to Asbestos, Health Effects of Asbestos, Asbestos Containing Materials, Asbestos Legislation, Responsibilities, Risk Assessments & Plans of Work, Methods & Equipment and HSE Task Sheets.
  • Bulk Sampling of Suspect Asbestos Containing Material Training
    This course is recommended for anyone who has or may be required to take a sample of any suspect asbestos containing material.

G L Consultancy Ltd is a British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) course provider in the following asbestos proficiency modules:

  • P401 – Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples (PLM)
    The BOHS P401 course is a requirement for all laboratory staff undertaking the identification of asbestos in bulk samples in UKAS accredited laboratories and is the recognised industry standard.
  • P402 – Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for Asbestos (including Risk Assessment and Risk Management Strategies)
    The BOHS P402 course is a requirement for all survey staff in UKAS accredited survey companies and is the recognised industry standard for all asbestos surveyors.
  • P402 Refresher – Management (Buildings Surveys and Sampling for Asbestos)
    Annual refresher course for the P402
  • P402 Refresher – Refurbishment and Demolition (Buildings Surveys with Full Access Sampling for Asbestos)

  • P403 – Asbestos Fibre Counting (PCM) (including Sampling Strategies)
    The BOHS P403 and P404 courses are typically run together and are a requirement for all air monitoring staff in UKAS accredited air-testing companies
  • P404 – Air Sampling of Asbestos and Requirements for a Certificate of Reoccupation Following Clearance of Asbestos
    The BOHS P403 and P404 courses are typically run together and are a requirement for all air monitoring staff in UKAS accredited air-testing companies
  • P404 Refresher – Air Sampling of Asbestos and Requirements for a Certificate of Reoccupation Following Clearance of Asbestos

  • P405 – Management of Asbestos in Buildings
    The BOHS P405 course is recommended for those wishing to comply with regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 – The Duty to Manage.
  • P407 – Managing Asbestos in Premises, the Duty Holder Requirements
    The BOHS P407 course provides a practical knowledge and the skills to be able to manage asbestos in premises and to provide a basic knowledge of asbestos management plans, policies and procedures, their implementation and checks on effectiveness.
  • W504 – Asbestos and other fibres
    The BOHS W504 course enhances the student’s knowledge of occupational hygiene practice in relation to fibrous dusts. The module concentrates on asbestos, but other fibres, e.g. Machine made mineral fibres, aramids, carbon etc., which are increasingly finding uses in industry are also covered.
