This refresher course covers every topic in the full asbestos awareness course, only in shorter detail.
The course is designed to provide anyone whose work could expose them to asbestos with sufficient knowledge to avoid putting themselves and others at risk.
Refresher courses are recommended to be carried out every 12 months. To be eligible for the refresher course, every delegate needs to have undertaken a full asbestos awareness course within the last 2 years.
The syllabus comprises of six sections:
- Properties of asbestos and the history of its use
- Health effects of asbestos
- Types, uses and occurrences of ACMs (asbestos containing materials)
- Legislation of asbestos
- Emergency procedures
- Avoiding the risks of asbestos
Who is the course for?
It is made for those in the maintenance and building industry (such as electricians, plumbers, painters and decorators, construction workers and many more) who are likely to be exposed to asbestos.
How long is the course?
The Asbestos Awareness Refresher course takes half a day to complete (teaching lasts approximately 2.5 hours). There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course.
