This course gives an overview of the roles and responsibilities required by any persons who requires an overview of the duty to manage and legislative requirements.

Course Content

The course provides those who require an overview of managing asbestos containing materials in buildings in line with regulatory requirements laid out in Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

Course Requirements

It is a requirement that the delegate has undertaken a full Asbestos Awareness course within 6 months of the date of the Duty to Manage training course. If this has not been undertaken, then the asbestos awareness can be organised for the same day. It is advised that this is refreshed every 12 months.

The syllabus comprises of five sections:

  • Requirements of the Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non-domestic Premises
  • Requirements for asbestos surveying and the differing types of surveys
  • Requirements and contents of asbestos survey reports
  • Requirements and contents of asbestos management plans
  • Licensable, non-licensable and notifiable non-licensable work with asbestos and the requirements for each

Who is the course for?

Duty holders, duty holder’s assistants, appointed persons assistants, building owners, landlords, managing agents etc.

How long is the course?

Half a day (at least 90 minutes of teaching required). There will be an assessment at the end of the course.
